Brett Bauer is the Executive Vice President, Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer for 1st Source Corporation and 1st Source Bank. He oversees the finance and accounting functions, business financial analysis, asset and liability management, wholesale and corporate funding, capital management, investor relations, loan review and risk management.
Mr. Bauer initially joined the Bank as a Corporate Trainee in 1999 before becoming a Trust Investment Analyst in 2000. He moved to Tokyo in 2002 and worked for Bear Stearn Japan LTD until he moved back to South Bend in 2006. At that time, he returned to 1st Source in the Funds Management Division as an Investment Analyst for the Bank’s investment portfolio. In late 2012, he was promoted to Funds Management Division Head and Chief Investment Officer responsible for managing 1st Source’s funding and treasury functions, bank liquidity, municipal and large CD pricing and services, a $1 billion-plus investment portfolio, and setting and managing the Bank’s asset liability policy and approach. He has also played a key role in vetting tax equity investments in 1st Source’s solar financing business. In 2021, he moved into the Chief Financial Officer role.
Mr. Bauer received his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He has volunteered in the community serving organizations such as Meals-on-Wheels, St. Pius X Catholic Church, Northwood Hills Homeowners’ Association, The Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes, and United Youth Theatre.
